1. 4-Hexylresorcinol is an inhibitor of transglutaminase-2 in KB cells. Studies indicate that 4-Hexylresorcinol reduces DNA oxidative damage in human lymphocytes. is a substituted dihydroxybenzene used topically as an antiseptic for the treatment of minor skin infections. is a substituted ph enol with bactericidal, antihelminthic and potential antineoplastic activities. The combination of 4-Hexylresorcinol and Cisp latin has been shown to inhibit tumor growth, cell growth, and KB cell viability.

2. 4-Hexylresorcinol is used as the starting material to synthesize a potent immune suppressor, celastramycin A. It is a precursor to prepare resorcinol-sn-glycerol derivatives, that exhibit high affinity for type 1 receptor. It can also be incorporated as a linker while building catenanes. p-Hexylresorcinol shows antiimnflammatory activity acting on the human 5-LO (5-Lipoxygenase) proinflammatory enzyme.

4-Hexylresorcinol is an organic compound with local anaesthetic, antiseptic, and anthelmintic properties.
It is available for use topically on small skin infections, or as an ingredient in throat lozenges. It is marketed as (in a 0.1% solution) for oral pain relief and as an antiseptic.4-hexylresorcinol can be use for skincare products as an anti-aging cream.
4-Hexylresorcinol has been used commercially by many cosmetic and personal care companies, such as Mary Kay, Clarins, Unilever, Murad, Arbonne, and many small and large companies. 
A study shows that 4-hexylresorcinol used as a food additive exhibits some estrogenic activity, i.e. resembles action of the female sex hormone estrogen. 
In one study, 4-hexylresorcinol increased the shelf life of shrimp by reducing melanosis (black spots).
